Being a teenager really sucks. There’s the uncertainty of your future (although that comes with every age). Not knowing who you are (as a person, friend, relative). You are constantly changing and growing (change happens, if you accept it and make the best of it, that’s up to you). So much emotion (and most of it you can’t seem to understand what you’re feeling). A lot that’s expected of you (high expectations that you seem you can’t reach). So much drama (jealousy and jumping to conclusions has a lot to do with that).

And through all that you have to…

Find the right balance between privacy and blunt truth. Family and friends. Yourself and others. Fun and seriousness. That’s hard to do.

But you need to enjoy life…

And to do that, you need to enjoy what you do, learn to love to learn. But it seems school is just sucking all of the creativity and individuality out of learning (that’s a different post though… sometime later). I’m happy about where I’m at, I go to a Charter School, project based learning, and I love it!

Find things you are passionate about…

And become educated in the area of interest. There’s nothing more annoying then trying to have a conversation with unintelligible people. Even though it humors me often, it’s annoying.

Accept who you are…

Don’t let people change you. Being true to yourself is a big issue as a teen, first that means knowing who you are. That’s a long journey and takes years and years of searching. Stand your ground on things you believe (but don’t argue if you don’t know what you’re talking about). Stand up for yourself and what you believe in.

And with all of this…

You have to deal with, family issues (not everyone’s life is wonderful and easy), government and the impact it has on your life (which I could ramble on and on about, but won’t), education, sexuality, sex, morals, and all the obstacles thrown in front of you.

It’s tough

Mom and Dad~ I use "given" because no body took his life, he gave it up. Gave up life. For reasons we don't know, besides experiencing the pain of being a teenager. (Plus it sounded better than taking your own life or something around that.)

These are just some wishing I have for Mitch Isensee, the 15 year old who choose to end his life. I didn’t know him, but this has effected me as it has affected several. He was a good friend to several of my friends. My heart goes out to his family. My prayers are with them, and I hope they can stay strong together through this ordeal.

Hearing that a 15 year old committed suicide brought back several unwanted memories and what ifs. As most of you know, Tesha went through a very hard time 2 years ago. She was suffering from depression. Several times I was afraid for her life. Haylee and I did everything we could, and gradually she overcame all that was hurting her. Right now I’m worried about Josh. He is really hurting and I don’t know how to help him. This news brought tears of sorrow and hurt for those who were family and friends. It also brought tears of selfish joy that I didn’t have to go through the pain of losing a loved one.

I challenge everyone I know to focus on the good in life. With every horrible thought and action there is a positive outcome. If you spend time grieving the bad, you’ll miss the good. If you’re having a bad day, find at least one good thing that happened that day. I guarantee there is at least one, if you missed it, that’s the question.

Don’t think I’m not writing… because I am. It’s just my writings are at home, and I’m not sure if I want to share them.

The past few days have been kind of tough. I’ve been missing Haylee and Tesha horribly. I found out some pretty shocking and depressing news Monday. (And no I am not pregnant, on drugs, or anything else that is probably floating around your head :)) And I just haven’t been feeling the best recently.

I’ve been working overtime on schoolwork. Kathryn Clarenbach project is taking up much of my time. And that’s okay. I love work like this. Talking to people I normally wouldn’t be contacting. History. Women’s Rights. Power. Astounding smarts. And creating something beautiful with the information I find.

I’m craving a hike. Maybe I’ll get my mom to drop me off somewhere…

I’m not getting a lot of reading time recently. :( Well, I do stay up late and read… Whoops. I just finished Paper Quake by: Kathryn Reiss. It’s one of those with two stories from two time periods running parallel to each other and then come together.

Jason’s going to school! I am so excited for him, and happy. It’s through a grant from CouleeCap, but hey, that’s okay. It’s schooling. He’s excited for it, but nervous as well. He doesn’t know what he wants to do, and I’m sensing he’s a little scared of picking a profession and hating it. But he’ll do fine, I’m sure of it.

I’m planning on becoming a foreign exchange student my Junior/Senior year. It would be through the Rotary Club most likely. I can’t wait!

I have softball starting soon. I’m honestly not really looking forward to it. I have hardly practiced. The good thing is that Tesha’s doing it this year. Haylee isn’t though.

Well I really just wanted to write random things as they float through my head and I think I managed that. So that’s really all I have to say.

Congratulation post for myself! I have finished my first complete notebook or writings.
At 10:00 pm on January 4th, 2008, Chloe Miller Hansen, a writer in training finished her first notebook.

This Christmas my parents got me three cute little journals, thanks!

In case anyone didn’t know, I put in an application at the library for Jan Bruder’s old job. I’m hoping for positive outcome.

I received my first catalog about becoming a Foreign Exchange Student. Intrax is the group, but I am not planning on going through them, but I’m looking at what is out there.

Moon

Sliding through the night
Guided by the beautiful light
The moon
I’m humming a tune
I’m at peace
Just walking alone
Barefoot in the twilight
I’m able to escape my life.

I’m feeling comforted in the streetlight
It’s a wonderful night
I don’t have a destination
Just walking, wandering
Trusting my guide.
The moon.

Have an urge to run
I come to a hill
I stop running and stand still.
Laying down
Staring at the stars and
The moon.
Glowing that calming light
On my face
I drift off into a dream.

I am suddenly flying
There’s nothing that I am not defying
I look around,
I see the hill
Me sleeping still
My city I call my home
I’m finally free to roam
I keep drifting upwards toward my best friend

Disappearing Cycle

Wishing it would rain
I’d go outside and cry
my tears mix with the rain drops
I’d watch the lilies bloom
with a fresh rain
reviving their full beauty

Wish the sun would break
these dreary clouds
my face would light up
a little kid with a brand new bike
little critters running circles
happy to see the sun again

Wish I could share the beauty
with someone I love
red, orange, pink, yellow
the sun is going down
now no more light

Wish I could go outside
breathe the fresh cool night air
fresh as a baby’s breath
lay on my back count the stars
watch the moon fade away

My Sister

There’s this little girl
I’ve been watching grow up.
Each day she learns something new
Comes home all excited
Wanting to tell me
The latest laugh
The latest crush
The latest dream.

She’s really bright
Going somewhere in her life.
Very pretty
Tall, Skinny, Blond, Athletic.
Has a great head on her shoulders
Every second, thinking of someone else.
She has a strong heart
Can’t hurt anything or anyone.

I can’t believe how fast she’s growing
One minute to the next
She’s changing.
Noticing more and more
In this world she calls home.
She says she looks up to me
I’m her favorite.

I look back when I was a kid.
I miss those days
So much!
I have the same dreams
And ambitions
More responsibility and pressure.
I wish I could go back
Be able to run around barefoot
Play with everyone without having to worry.

Little girl
You bring me much joy.
You bring back memories
I’ve long forgotten.
I always smile when I think of you.

So here's my first poem,

The Circus

We are at the circus
My sister and I

We look on in wonder
The elephants are coming
We are amazed
As they spin around and lift their trunks to us
A silent salute

We watch spellbound
The tigers bound out of their cage
We squeal in glee
They let out a roar and jump through fire
Landing lightly

We hold our breath
The acrobats defy gravity
And risk their lives
Flipping and flying

We gasp in horror
The snake charmer does his work
With a thirty foot rattler

We look at each other
With eyes that say
We want to be the girl riding
That beautiful stallion.

Seasons by my sister

Okay this last weekend was spent literally tearing apart my room and cleaning it. When I was doing that I found a poem that my sister Sara wrote for me.

I hope she doesn't mind I'm posting it, it's really sweet and remember she is 9, and I think she wrote this last year so she was 8. I'll type it as it is.

Spring:

Spring is such a bling when
animals come and say hi
and all the snow says bye
The weather changes
but it is pleasent to chldren of all ages
now all is brighter
and all is quieter
spring rings

Winter:

Winter is such a glinter
it is such a beautiful sight
especially at night
lakes and streams freese
and the wind makes a breese
snow falls
but it will be made into something
maybe balls
Christmas begins
agains
new birds apear
and some disapear
to keep warm people sit by the fire
to their own desire
winter will begin
again

Thanks for all of your comments and reading! As you should know, I am quite modest and shy about my writings. But I do love writing. A lot! Sometimes I just have sentences running through my head that make me think, so I'll write it down. Sometimes a poem. Or a paragraph or two.

I am indeed going through a rough time right now considering the whole growing up phase, have a lot of emotions and thoughts.

So bare with me and I really do appreciate and value your thoughts and opinions.

Well I was thinking. That’s great advice.

So don’t hold on to grudges that are meaningless.
Forgive while you have the chance.

You might not have another chance.

Children...

Well, this was inspired by a conversation/writing with Anna.
I don't have a title for it also so any ideas would be more than welcomed.
I'm not to sure what I think of it. It's pretty short and could have some additions or it could just be left short.

In the eyes of children
life is an adventure
So many things to explore.

In the hands of children
life is a peice of clay
Ready to mold.

In the ears of children
life is just another

Falling Into the Unknown

This writing was inspired by a dream. I don't really know what the form of writing is, if it's a poem or what. That's how much of an amature I am. :) I haven't decided what the title should be, Falling Into the Unknown? The Net of Safty? If you have any ideas please let me know,
Again all constructive critisim is welcomed...

One foot in front
Stepping out into the spotlight
The tightrope walker takes caution
Her goal, get to the other side
Safely.
I think of that girl in comparison of me.
Needing to be cautious,
One foot in front of the other.
Careful not to step off the line.
Wanting to awe the crowd below.
She’s walking, almost to the other side
She steps up on to the solid platform.
Pivoting she waves to the crowd,
They cheer, she’s loving their appreciation,
Glad that they care that she’s safe.
She looks back to where she started.
I look back to where I started
Realizing I’ve came along way.
Proud of some things
Hateful of others.
But glad I made it here.
She looks out thinking,
She’ll make this pass exciting
Walking forwards she stops in the middle
She quickly pirouette, turning in a circle.
She’s dizzy and confused for a second
But she lands and is relieved to be facing the right direction.
I’m sometimes like that,
Going round and round in circles
Not sure where to stop.
Afraid of stopping and finding
I’m facing backwards.
Then I’d have the choice,
Go back to where I came from
Or
Take a chance and move on.
She takes the chance,
Walking forwards,
Her destination,
The strong and sturdy platform.
There are scattered sighs of joy
That she’s reached the end.
Now one more pass she figures.
She starts off walking backwards.
Sometimes I’m walking backwards,
Making the wrong decision,
Making a bad choice.
Taking a chance.
But I have to keep moving.
She reaches the middle and stops.
She gracefully does a flip and she starts falling
Falling.
When I stumble I end up falling into
the Unknown.
I’m hoping and praying someone will
Catch me and set me straight
Again.
She falls into a net all spread out
To stop her fall.
She’s saved by people
Who love her,
And I am too.

The Start of Just.Another.Thing

I've always been a major reader. A MAJOR reader. I love all forms of literature. I praise and worship those capable of creating wonderful work that others can enjoy. And one of my many goals is to get a book/article/poem/something published. I would love that. I do believe however that I'm not a great writer, or one that deserves publishing. I know, I know, I am young and an undeveloped writer but still. So anyway the point of this blog is to get my writings out there, for the very few if any, I let read.
So those of you, I have three things I request,
1- Please all constructive criticism is completely and utterly welcome!
2- None of the things I have written about is directed at anyone or anything. So please don't take offense.
3- I hope you do enjoy reading my writings.
