Beautiful

Open your eyes,
Look around,
Under the disguise
All things are beautiful.

People, never the same,
Not all good,
But there’s beauty in everything to name.

Dogs, full of energy,
Always ready for a good run.
Always have a smile or kiss
For their loved ones.

Water holes,
Somewhere to cool off
During a hot day.
Somewhere to refresh
After a mistake in an alleyway.

Painted deserts,
Full of colors.
Niagra Falls,
Cool mist hitting your face.
Grand Canyon,
Built over so many years, so large.
Mountains,
So large, peaceful.
Ocean,
Leading to places you can’t see.

Remember, small things
Have beauty too.
Little rabbits,
Cats, rain babies,
The way mothers look so tenderly at their children,
Kids chasing an ice cream truck.

Joy, joy and hard work.
Both beautiful in their own way.
The world,
The world is beautiful.

I kind of like this one,
The inspiration would be from Becoming Chloe. A book written by Catherine Ryan Hyde. It’s a wonderful book that I absolutely love, it’s very well written and has a really nice meaning. I’d really recommend it to pretty much everyone.

There is joy in so much around us. Too often, we forget that and choose to see all that's wrong with the world and with our lives.

It's an easy habit to get into - looking at the negative and choosing to dwell on it and thinking about all that we don't have instead of all that we do have.

It's about being grateful. Your poem sends that message clearly.

Thanks for sharing your work.
I look forward to catching up on your postings here and your new work to come.

I would like to connect you to Chandra who was in my first CPE unit and is a poet and blogger. I think the two of you would enjoy getting acquainted.

A creative question -
What is beautiful about the Grand Canyon? Age, for sure. But, what about water carving deep and deeper, revealing beauty time had deposited/discarded while moving forward.

I haven't been to the grand canyon but I imagine it as not only is the water and age beautiful but also the size is a part in it's beauty.
